Nestled in the Bow Valley, just over an hour west of Calgary you’ll find a little hidden gem called Canmore. Growing up in Canmore is beyond imaginable. Everyday I wake up to breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains, hiking trails right outside my back door, and I walk my dog along the river every day.
Canmore has been my home since I was three years old. I’ve grown up with the same group of kids since I was 5 years old and I couldn’t be more grateful. My friends are not just ordinary friends, they’re family. My graduating class was just over 100 people and I can confidently say that I knew all of them well. Not all kids can say that. Although there are faults with every education system, the education you receive in Canmore is very well rounded. Since we have a smaller graduating class, that means we have smaller class sizes, which allows the teacher student ratio to be lower.
The opportunities in Canmore are astonishing. You have every sport you could imagine at the tip of your fingers. You have access to: Cross Country Skiing, Downhill Skiing, Mountain Biking, Gymnastics, Dance, Soccer, Kayaking, Basketball and plenty more. The school system also offers programs such as Outdoor Ed and WILD which allows you to get outside and be active. In these classes you also learn the essence of wildlife and outdoor safety while experiencing it first hand on hiking and ski trips. Not only do you have access to sports in Canmore but you also have access to the arts. Starting at a young age the school system has programs such as: Band, Media, Music Class, Photography, Art Class, Drama, and Performing Arts. With all this access to different programs it allows you to truly do what you love.
Canmore is not just a town, it’s somewhere you call home. It’s the kind of place that has a strong sense of community and encourages you to be the best version of yourself everyday.
With outdoor activities just a step away, everyday is a new adventure. Why just visit here, when this could be YOUR life?
